Newmarket’s minor footballers recorded a fine victory over Boherbue to claim the Duhallow Minor B football league title after a 2-13 to 0-9 win in the final played at Kiskeam on Saturday evening.
Newmarket’s minor football team claimed victory against Boherbue at Newmarket by 5-11 to 2-9 in an open league contest played in wet conditions last Thursday evening.
Newmarket bowed out of the Duhallow Cup at the semi final stage, when they suffered defeat against Boherbue by 2-10 to 1-9 in a keenly contested game played at Kiskeam on Tuesday night.
Newmarket’s minor footballers were denied at the death after a thrilling conclusion to their championship clash with Boherbue on Tuesday evening at Kiskeam which ended 2-7 to 0-11.
Tuesday Evening, March 24th saw the new season open for the Newmarket U16 football team.

The new playing season gets underway on Sunday February 15th. The action starts in the Ducon Cup, with Newmarket playing away to Boherbue at 1pm.
Last year the juniors qualified for the knockout stages of the competition, eventually being beaten by Dromtarrife in the quarter final.
The Newmarket Minors lost to Boherbue in the league final played last Saturday in Boherbue on a score line of 2-4 to 7 points. The final was played in atrocious conditions in Boherbue on a wet and windy day which had a damper on the football.
Newmarket were defeated by Boherbue in their latest minor football league game played at Boherbue on Monday evening by 3-6 to 2-3.
Newmarket claimed their first victory in this years Ducon Cup when they recorded a fine victory over Boherbue by 0-10 to 0-6 at the latters venue, on a fine crisp Sunday afternoon.

Newmarket Junior A Footballers produced a fine display in their final group game of the Nevin Cup against Boherbue to progress to the final of the competition. They overcame Boherbue on a score line of 1-11 to 1-3 in very tough conditions at Ballydesmond last Sunday.
Newmarket were narrowly defeated by Boherbue in the first round of this years Boherbue Co-Op Duhallow Junior Football Championship by 1-8 to 0-9 in a close contest, that went down to the wire, played in driving rain at Kiskeam on Tuesday evening last.
Newmarket and Boherbue provided a pulsating minor football league game at Newmarket on Thursday evening when the home side emerged from a high scoring contest to claim their first league victory by 4-11 to 4-6.
Newmarket’s under 21 football team produced a memorable display of football, in regaining the Duhallow championship for the first time in six years, when they defeated Boherbue by 2-12 to 1-8 in the replayed final at Dromtariffe on Sunday evening.
Newmarket recorded their second successive win in this years Ducon Cup after turning in a fine display, especially in the first half, in accounting for Boherbue by 1-13 to 1-5 at sun drenched Newmarket on Sunday afternoon.
The destination of this years Duhallow under 21 football title will have to be resolved on another day as Newmarket and Boherbue played out a draw after a tense, gripping and exciting contest. Played before a large attendance at Dromtariffe on Sunday evening, the sides finished level at 1-10 apiece thanks to a dramatic late Boherbue comeback, which resulted in a late equalizing goal.
The game got off to a lively start with the Boherbue full forward Denis McCarthy scoring 3 points in quick succession. This was answered in turn by a goal from Ian Flanagan of Newmarket. After this blistering start the game continued as a well contested affair with scores from both teams. Newmarket giving away a lot of frees in front of goals assisting the Boherbue effort, an Alan Forde goal before half time made sure that the Newmarket team finished the first half ahead by 3 points 2-5 to 0-8.
