Our website has been nominated for an award in the Irish Blog Awards. We have been nominated in the Best Sports and Recreation Blog.
The Awards are taking place on March 1st, 2008, in the Alexander Hotel Dublin.
Today marks the first birthday of newmarketgaa.com, as a reminder this was the first post.
Over the last year we have posted many articles, match reports, news items, gallery updates and even some historical articles. We would like to thank everybody who has supplied articles, information, pictures (old and new) to the site. These make it more interesting for everybody in the town. Special thanks must go to Conor O’Sullivan who supplies the vast majority of match reports and results, this is what keeps people coming back to the site again and again and long may it continue into the future.
Here are some statistics from the past year.
The first of many match reports from the past has been added to the website. Click here to read the late John Joe Brosnan’s report from The Corkman, first published on the 19th of December, 1970.

The gallery has been updated and reorganised with new pictures from five different decades.
From the 1950s is a picture of the 1951 minor hurling county semi-finalists, the 1953 junior hurling team and the 1958 football novice champions. From the 1960s is a picture 1965 junior football champions before a county game versus Na Pairsaigh in Macroom.
From the 1970s we have the 1970 junior football champions, the 1972 hurling runners-up, and the 1974 hurling league & championship winners. From the 1980s are photos of the 1982 junior B footballers and 1988 under U21 hurlers.
Finally we have a picture the 2003 U14 hurling champions. Thanks to Con Collins for the great mixture of photos.
The gallery has been updated with photos from the 2004 season, including the Nevin Cup & Division 2 league winning footballers and the minor double winners.
Also added are photos from this years Cúl Camp, which was attended last week by Cork players James Masters and Diarmuid Duggan.

The gallery has been updated with a selection of photos from 1983, 1987 and 1993, including the Duhallow 1983 Junior Hurling League Champions and the 1987 Examiner Cup Winners.

The gallery has been updated with two photos, 63 years apart. The first is the 1935 Duhallow Junior Hurling Champions. This comes from a period when Newmarket dominated Hurling in Duhallow winning four titles in a row from 1934 to 1937.
The second again comes from a four in a row, this time in Under 21 Duhallow football. The picture is the 1998 Team the first of four championships between 1998 and 2001.
