News from September, 2006
On a showery looking evening. Match got off to an even enough start with Knocknagree scoring the first point inside of five minutes, Newmarket replied with an Ian Flanagan goal. However that would be probably the only highlight of the first half for Newmarket, as any other chances of scores fell short and easy pickings for the Knocknagree defence to clear. Knocknagree proceeded to score some very impressive scores in a first half total of 11 points, half time 1-0 to 0-11.
Well done to the Duhallow team and especially to the Newmarket players involved in the panel and to selector Paul Murphy on their victory in the county senior football quarter final against Carrigdhoun at Ballyclough, last Sunday.
Newmarket’s minor footballers qualified for a third successive Duhallow final when they edged past Knocknagree in a gripping, titanic semi final at Castlemagner on Sunday, which went to extra time before ending 1-12 to 0-13 in the defending champions favour.
Newmarket GAA Club would like to thank all the teams and sponsors who participated and supported the recent golf classic held at Kanturk Golf Club.
