The game got off to a lively start with the Boherbue full forward Denis McCarthy scoring 3 points in quick succession. This was answered in turn by a goal from Ian Flanagan of Newmarket. After this blistering start the game continued as a well contested affair with scores from both teams. Newmarket giving away a lot of frees in front of goals assisting the Boherbue effort, an Alan Forde goal before half time made sure that the Newmarket team finished the first half ahead by 3 points 2-5 to 0-8. After the heroics of Tuesday night the Newmarket boys now had to face Millstreet on a cold Friday evening in Millstreet under lights. Match started evenly enough with Newmarket going ahead first from an Ian Flanagan Point. It was pretty much even after that in the first half with Millstreet finishing perhaps the stronger side at half time. Millstreet hitting the post and had the ball cleared off the line by Brendan stack in a few shaky moments for the Newmarket team. On a showery looking evening. Match got off to an even enough start with Knocknagree scoring the first point inside of five minutes, Newmarket replied with an Ian Flanagan goal. However that would be probably the only highlight of the first half for Newmarket, as any other chances of scores fell short and easy pickings for the Knocknagree defence to clear. Knocknagree proceeded to score some very impressive scores in a first half total of 11 points, half time 1-0 to 0-11.
