The Newmarket under 16 footballers recorded a big win away to Croke Rovers yesterday evening. After last weeks excellent result against Boherbue, the Newmarket boys lined out against Croke Rovers in Castlemagner on a perfect evening for football.
From the very start Newmarket played all the football and exhibited a good passing game against an under strength Croke Rovers team. In every position on the field the Newmarket team where dominant and this was reflected on the scoreboard, 4–7 to 0-1 at half time. However it must be said, the shooting was off with the home side recording a total of 10 wides in the first half. The first half scores coming from TJ Brosnan 1–1, Nicky Barrett 1–2, Luke McCarthy 2–0, Gerry Murphy 0–2, Vincent Molloy 0–2.
The second half continued as the first with Newmarket being ever dominant all over the field, aided by the introduction of fresh legs early in the half. The score at full time was 9 – 14 to 0 – 1.
