Kanturk had a clear victory over Newmarket by 2-14 to 0-8 in the opening round of the Duhallow under 21 hurling championship played in ideal conditions at Newmarket on Saturday evening.
Newmarket bowed out of the Duhallow under 21 hurling championship when defeated by Kanturk at floodlit Mallow on Wednesday evening last by 2-16 to 0-13.
Newmarket’s under 21 hurlers progressed to the quarter final of the championship when they defeated Meelin by 3-14 to 4-9 in a thrilling contest at Meelin on Sunday.
Newmarket were defeated by Banteer in the opening round of the Duhallow Under 21 hurling championship at the latter’s venue on Saturday evening where the home side emerged victors by 2-15 to 1-8.
Newmarket’s under 21 hurling team suffered a disappointing defeat against Meelin in the semi final of the Duhallow championship at Meelin on Sunday, the home side emerging easy winners by 0-18 to 0-5.
