Under 21 hurlers advance to semi final with comprehensive win
Emmetts u21 hurlers advance to Championship semi final after recording a comprehensive victory over Millstreet in ideal conditions at Millstreet on Monday night.
Millstreet were first on the scoreboard but it was the last time they would be in front as Emmetts took over from their with Cork u21 panelist Donal Hannon striking over 2 frees and a 65 to leave it 0-4 to 0-1 inside fifteen minutes with Mike Mc Sweeney landing the other. With Emmetts now dominating all over the field they added further points through captain Jacko Flaherty and ace marksman Barry O’ Connor with four of his own despite being a doubt before the game. Emmetts increased their lead further as Conor O’ Keeffe struck over 2 more along with Hannon and corner back Paudie Allen also getting in on the scoring to leave it Emmetts 0-15 to Millstreets 0-2.
The Second half was no different as Emmetts class really shone through as all 6 starting forwards were now on the scoresheet with Ryan O’ Keeffe now getting in on the act with a fine point from an acute angle. With wing back Gavin Forde and Midfielder Mikey Cottrell now finding the target it left Millstreet trailing 0-20 to 0-5 with twenty mins remaining on the clock. Millstreet did put a dent in the Emmetts lead but a brace of points each from Jacko and Conor O’ Keeffe had them leading 0-24 to 0-11 and Emmetts rounded off their win with goals to Conor O’ Keeffe and Barry O’ Connor which saw the deadly duo notch up 2-13 between them.
