Newmarket advanced to the final of the Duhallow Junior B Hurling league when they travelled to Meelin on Sunday morning and defeated the hosts in a close contest by 2-8 to 0-11.
Newmarket bowed out of the EPS Bison Duhallow Junior Hurling Championship on suffering a crushing defeat to near neighbours Meelin by 1-27 to 1-7 at Meelin on Friday evening last. The incessant rain that fell before the game meant the game was switched from Newmarket to Meelin and the game was played on a remarkable playing surface that defied all that the elements could muster.
A point in the final seconds of injury time denied Newmarket a share of the spoils in an exciting junior B hurling league contest against Meelin at the latter’s venue on Wednesday evening, the home side edging victory by 4-9 to 1-17.
Newmarket’s hurlers were defeated by Meelin in an excellent Singleton Cup final played in perfect conditions at Newmarket on Sunday evening by 3-13 to 2-14.
Newmarket commenced their junior hurling league campaign with defeat away to Meelin on Friday evening by 2-18 to 0-8.

Newmarket’s junior hurlers were defeated by near neighbours Meelin by 0-12 to 0-5 in the opening round of the EPS Bison Duhallow championship played on an awful evening on an immaculate playing surface at the latter’s venue on Tuesday evening.
Newmarket maintained their terrific start to the junior B hurling league when they recorded their second successive victory at home to Meelin on Thursday evening by 3-13 to 4-8 in a keenly contested game.
On Friday evening, Newmarket were defeated at home by a stronger Meelin side in the junior hurling league by 2-16 to 1-11, in a dress rehearsal for their upcoming championship meeting.

Culloty’s goal clinched title for Newmarket
