Robert Emmets are Under 21 Champions

Robert Emmets secured another famous Duhallow Under 21A title, with a hard fought win over Croke Rovers on Saturday evening. With Robert Emmets having overcome Sliabh Luachra Gaels and Croke Rovers having defeated Kanturk at the semi final stage, both teams fancied their chances of victory in the Central Sports Kanturk sponsored competition.

GAA Membership

Newmarket’s GAA membership is up for renewal and the Club has introduced new offers, providing great savings, when coupled with Cork GAA’s Rebel Bounty and the Club Lotto. The standard, non-playing membership costs €40, but when joined with Rebel Bounty, which is €100, the bundle is reduced to €130. Further savings are possible when the Club Lotto is added, bring the combined cost to €200, with a great savings of €25 euro. Additional value is also on offer for student players and OAPs. Please contact committee members to avail of these savings and continue to support and grow the Club.

Newmarket GAA will celebrate the sporting year that was 2021, on the 25th of February, in Charleville Park Hotel. The evening will include a three course meal, live music and great celebrations, marking a historic 12 months for the club. Tickets are available for 35 euro from committee members and lotto outlets.

Paudie Allen Makes League Debut

Congratulations to Newmarket man, Paudie Allen, on making his league debut for Cork against Clare, on Saturday last. Paudie came on in the 48th minute of the contest, displaying an assured performance. He replaced Mallow man Shane Merrit, who also put in strong showing. Shane is son of Siobhan O’Connor of High Street, Newmarket and we wish them both the best of success, as they continue their Cork journey.

Footballers bow out at Munster semi-final stage

A long and memorable season for the Newmarket footballers came to a conclusion on Sunday in Mallow, as they bowed out to of the Munster Intermediate Football Championship at the semi final stage. Defeat at the hands of Corofin, ensured the Clare side take on Na Gaeil of Kerry in the New Year, for the provincial title.

Footballers Secure Famous Win

The month of December holds a special place in Newmarket hearts. In 1970 it was the thirteenth day of the month, while back in 1998 it was the sixth. This year, the fifth has been added to the glorious days when The Black & Red have won county titles. In securing the Bon Secours Premier Intermediate title last Sunday, the Newmarket footballers bridged the gap to another celebrated occasion, the sixteenth of October 2011, and in doing so, created a legacy of their own.
