Rockchapel take the points in local derby

Local opposition Rockchapel won out on Tuesday night, the 26th April, in what was round four of the Cork Credit Unions county football league.

The visitors started off the brighter and maintained a three point lead for much of the early exchanges. Their cause was helped further by a 22nd minute goal, galvanising the advantage, 0-04 to 1-06. Both sides trades scores in the closing stages of the half, with Rockchapel holding a strong position at the break, 0-06 to 1-09.

In the second period Newmarket endeavoured to reduce the arrears, with a goal and point around the 40 minute mark, closing to gap to just four, 1-07 to 1-11. Rockchapel replied strongly though, pushing the advantage out to seven. Late scores from both sides did not modify the outcome, with the visitors securing a 1-10 to 1-16 win on the night.
