The junior A footballers of Newmarket travelled to Lismire on Thursday last, to take on Kilbrin in the quarter final of the Ducon Cup.
DJ O’Sullivan opened the evening’s scoring, with Eddie Allen following up soon after. A hat-trick of points from Hugh O’Connor saw Newmarket lead 0-05 to 0-02 at the quarter hour mark. Newmarket were awarded a penalty moments later, with the opportunity coolly finished by Mikey Browne. Scores from O’Connor and Daniel Culloty pushed the advantage out to eight with a Culloty goal on 23 minutes cementing Newmarket’s dominance. An O’Connor point just on the stroke of half time, ensured his side led 2-08 to 0-02 at the short whistle.

The evergreen Tony O’Keeffe was introduced on 36 minutes and was on the scoresheet a minute later. Another club stalwart Colin O’Sullivan pushed Newmarket into a 3-12 to 0-04 lead on 40 minutes.
