Newmarket side which showed two debutants, Darragh Lynn and Ben Newman, were defeated in the Duhallow U21A Championship round 1 Knocknagee 4-11 V Newmarket 0-10. The game was played February 23rd in Knocknagree.

The home side opened the scoring after 4 minutes; however it was quickly cut out by a Ryan O’Keeffe point. The teams traded points once again, however with 15 minutes played Knocknagree struck the net and lead on a score-line of 1-03 to 0-03. Newmarket playing against a strong breeze had to work hard to get the ball to the forwards and the teams once again traded points, before the home side hit Newmarket with a sucker punch after 23 minutes when they rattled the away teams net twice in a matter of seconds. Knocknagree lead on a score line of 3-6 to 0-05 at half time.
