Newmarket’s minor hurlers were defeated by Banteer in an entertaining Duhallow Minor C Hurling League Final played on a wonderful Meelin pitch on Sunday, where two late injury time goals cemented victory for Banteer by 4-8 to 1-8.
Newmarket’s minor hurling team created history on Sunday when for the first time, county hurling honours were acclaimed in the club, on winning a gripping County Minor C Hurling Championship final replay against St. Colum’s at Coachford on Sunday. It was a victory borne out of sheer resilience, determination and no little skill as a stunning final quarter enabled Newmarket to claim a three point victory by 1-11 to 1-8.
Newmarket and St. Colums must meet again after serving up a gripping draw in the County Minor C Hurling Championship Final played in arctic conditions despite splendid sunshine at a well turned out Macroom venue on Sunday, the sides ending deadlocked at 3-3 to 2-6.
Newmarket’s minor hurling team qualified for the County Minor C Hurling Championship Final for the second time in the clubs history and for the second time in six years after a fine semi final victory away to Clondrohid on Saturday afternoon.

The Newmarket minors were defeated recently by a Kanturk side in good conditions in Kanturk by 2-15 to 1-10.
Despite a gallant showing, Newmarket’s minor hurlers were defeated by St. Mark’s in their first outing of the year in a league game played at Meelin on Thursday evening with the final score reading 3-15 to 2-6.
A gallant Newmarket minor hurling team were defeated by Dromtariffe in the Duhallow Minor C Hurling Championship final played in trying wet conditions at Dromtariffe on Friday evening, a late burst from the home side confirming a 0-14 to 1-7 victory.
Newmarket’s minor hurlers were defeated in their second league outing of the year when they travelled to Kanturk on Monday evening where the home side claimed victory by 3-13 to 0-9.
Newmarket were defeated by Dromtariffe in their opening minor hurling league game at the latters venue on Wednesday evening by 3-18 to 2-4.
Newmarket bowed out of the minor hurling championship when they were defeated by St. Marks at Meelin on Monday evening by 2-14 to 1-5.
