John Ryan and John Lane added to the total before Kiskeam scored their first point. John Ryan added a brace of points with Kevin O’Sullivan and John Lane also adding to the scoreboard. The half ended as it began for Newmarket when corner back Brian O’Riordan converted a penalty in injury time to leave to score 2-9 to 0-1 in Newmarkets favour.

The game resumed with John Ryan slotting over two frees for Newmarket before Kiskeam pointed. Bart Daly exchanged points with a third Kiskeam score before another John Ryan free left the score 2-13 to 0-3, entering the final quarter.
