On Sunday the Premier Intermediate football league saw Newmarket play Nemo Rangers at Meelin on a fantastic playing surface. It was Newmarkets first outing and they suffered a 6-10 to 0-3 drubbing.

Playing with the aid of a strong wind Nemo scored five points in the first quarter. Despite enjoying considerable possession and finding a number of good scoring opportunities, Newmarket failed to find the target during the half. A twenty second minute goal paved the way for the city side to lead by 1-8 at the interval.

Nemo Rangers goalled within four minutes of the second half and added a point before John Cronin eventually opened the scoring for Newmarket. A third goal followed with John Cronin pointing at the end of the third quarter. Newmarket completely collapsed in a five minute spell when Nemo struck for three quickfire goals. John Cronin slotted his third point of the day before Nemo Rangers pointed to end a dismal day for Newmarket.
