The junior A hurlers opened their league campaign with a win away to Banteer.

Newmarket settled quickly in to the game, Tadhg opened the scoring with a point from play, which was quickly followed by a free from Donal, further points from play for Conor and Donal, before Tadhg finished to the net from a tight angle. From there to half time Cathal and Barry added two points each, Donal added a three, one from play, one 65 and a free and Conor with a point from play, which left the scoreline at 1-12 to 1-02 at the break.  

At half time Newmarket made a number of changes to the 15 that started the game, Brion O’Keeffe was introduced for his first outing for the junior hurlers and chipped in with with three points from play, the other scorers in the second half included, Donal with three, two 65’s and a free, Conor with two, one from play and a free, Ryan with two from play, with Cathal, Darren and Mikey each adding a point. The final score Newmarket 1-24 to Banteer 1-04.
