Newmarket were pitted against Kiskeam in a repeat of the sides first round meeting in 2008. On that occasion Newmarket emerged victorious by 1-13 to 1-10 at Kanturk on April 6th. The defeated side in this clash will meet either Clyda Rovers or Newcestown in round two.

The action starts in the Ducon Cup, with Newmarket playing away to Boherbue at 1pm.

Last year the juniors qualified for the knockout stages of the competition, eventually being beaten by Dromtarrife in the quarter final.

On Monday evening, at 8.30pm, the intermediates will be in action in Cloughduv in the 2008 PIFL (Co Div 3) SF Replay against Valley Rovers. The original fixture was played back in November.

Lets hope its the start of another successfull season for the hurlers and footballers of Newmarket.

Newmarket were pitted against St. Vincent’s in a repeat of this years evenly contested semi final, when the city side emerged with a slender victory by 1-9 to 1-8 at Mallow on August 17th. The defeated side in this clash will meet either Newcestown or Nemo Rangers in round two.
